Meet the Buccaneers of Tortuga....free men and women pirates that crew when and wherever they will. This twelve man crew is ported in Los Angeles and shares little except the shared love of all things piratical, travel, treasure and treachery. They are enthusiastic pirate historians and entertainers from a long past era during a time when piracy on the high seas was alive and well. They celebrate with accurate, lively and colorful portrayals of life as true buccaneer pirates. With over 30 years experience between them, they characterize the lives of working Buccaneers, who were the first real pirates, predating all other pirate crews. They show how the Buccaneers started the Golden Age of Piracy from Spain to the shores of Madagascar and from France to the Isle of Tortuga and throughout the old world.

They cross blades while they pillage, plunder and piratitize, as true historically authentic buccaneer pirates. They entertain and educate at shows, business functions private event and parties as the Buccaneers of Tortuga with their colorful cast of scallywags. Come aboard and meet our merry cutthroat crew!

Andre the “Red Eye” became Captain of the Buccaneers of Tortuga after we mutinied our last foolish Capt.’s and marooned him on a stretch of beach. Red Eye had been a gun runner on Tortuga. He joined our crew to live a life of piracy and brought onboard crates of cutlass’s, flintlocks and blunderbuss so we made him our new standing captain. Like the infamous Blackbeard before him, Red Eye has wives in every port from Spain and thru the Caribbean. His rum drinking is legendary and you never know what to expect when The Red Eye sizes you up…

Jules Evermore the ships Quartermaster… His true name is unknown, he is known by Jewels Evermore as he has a strange fixation with jewels of any kind, preferably those hanging around the necks of well fed rich men and women. Never to let opportunity pass him by, Jewels is a man of never ending verbal energy and talent. It is said he can talk the swash off any pirate and failing that, will shoot and take what he wants in the end. He is usually found in the company of Stormy Seas.

Stormy Seas the ships Pilot … Known as a girl who always knows where she is going. A lot has been said about Stormy Seas and sadly most of it is true. With a penchant and talent for imbibing she is a true challenge in any tavern and a greater one of the rum runs low. Usually found at the helm or singing in the center of the room with a tankard in each hand she is the life of every evening!

John Marinus the ships Master Carpenter… Beware the night when John Marinus Teague prowls the seven seas and ports o'call in search of that which catches his eye. Particularly known for his penchant to relieve the unaware of their gold and jewels he is also as well known for his taste in ladies. Light-fingered and fleet of foot, sighs of relief and content are heard when he returns to the seas.

Armand Bordeaux de La Garge the ships Gunner …A true Frenchman, Armand’s finest talents are his winsome ways with the women and a taste for fine grog. In a fight there is none more devious on land or at sea as he is well versed with both pistol and sword. Were he to have a middle name, it would be Revenge, and like vichyssoise, his revenge is best served cold.

Piranha Swann Kidd the ships Purser … Since escaping the hang mans noose at the Tyeburn twice she now wears the broken knotted rope on her person as proof of her good fortune... Her English born origins include her heritage as granddaughter of the notorious Captain William Kidd. She is both fierce and deadly, springing from the sea with a flintlock in one hand and cutlass in the other. Her arsenal includes weapons to disarm, distract and disembowel anyone to cross her. However, her deadliest weapon would be her wicked teeth bearing smile which usually proves fatal to many a foolish lad with an eye fer the buxom wenches...No one knows yet what she be smiling about but she has shown herself to be a true "man-eating fish" like her namesake PIRANHA. The smiling Piranha is a formative foe. She looks harmless and rather sweet but that's what makes her especially deadly to anyone who underestimates her. Do not dismiss her skills or her cunning as she is one of the fiercest pirates on board. So take heed and be warned ... she knows when to take a bite, when to go fer yer jugular and when to rip ye apart!

Sanchel the ships Weather Witch … Not much is know about the mysterious Sanchel but she has been a “Good Luck Charm” to our crew as we have had fair winds and good fortune ever since she came aboard. We are not sure if she has any control over our good fortune but sometimes we hear strange sounds at night coming from her private cabin. What we do know of her is that she is an exceptional alluring belly dancer and formidable sword fighter.

Elijah Cutter the ships Bos’n and Cook… Ne'er was there a more fearsome butcher to sail the seven seas then that of Mr. Elijah Cutter who joined our crew by serving our Captain a tasty stew made from the former ships cooks. Well versed in the manly arts of knocking heads, severing digits, poisoning and the separation of body and coin. None on the crew will ever stand against him for fear of disembowelment. Mr. Cutter is also quite well known for his tasty recipe of sautéed bilge rat in spiced sauce served with bole weevil biscuits and watered ale.

Francheska L’Ollonais the ships Cannoneer… Beware the redhead Franny, for rumor has it that to compensate for her own lack of heart she delights in cutting out the hearts of those that come within reach of her many hidden blades. Her tongue as sharp as her sword most take heed to steer clear of her harbor as she searches for a cabin boy who won’t be so quick to die. Don't be taken in by her innocent looks, if she's smiling your longevity is in certain peril.

Cutthroat Charles the ships First Mate… Originally from Louisiana in the Americas, this past proprietor of the Smiling Gator Tavern was known far and wide for his generous hospitality and gator wrestling skills. Many a patron walked away with less gold than he arrived by falling prey to betting on the gator and not on Charles. When it became known one day that Charles also had a penchant for cutting the throats of select guests and using them to fatten his pets he was forced to flee barely escaping to the Caribbean where he was taken in by the Buccaneers of Tortuga. The fortune he'd amassed from his tavern was never discovered though and many feel that it still lies hidden in the swamps awaiting his return.

Mary Purser the ships Surgeon …and the only book-learned educated pirate among us …She knows how to find her way around the human body and the gambling tables. She doctors us when we need it with her special cures and medicines and is often covered in blood. Fortune does not always favor the foolish as she often demonstrates as this wise doxie is often heavily laden with both coin and jewels. She is lucky in both love and games of chance and is usually found in the company of Elijah Cutter.

Colby “Cobra” Read the ships Powder Monkey... She is known as Cobra now but she came aboard as a stowaway evading a loveless arranged marriage. When she was discovered she presented herself as a boy. We soon discovered that she was in fact a girl …but she still prefers to dress and act as a boy when in the company of strangers. She is an agile and steadfast pirate and the youngest among us but still as deadly as a cold blooded cobra.

The Buccaneers of Tortuga have worked in cities around the country and they are proud to be the featured pirate performers of the upcoming PyrateCon 2008 in New Orleans April 2008 which is the 1st and only Pirate Convention in the world! The Buccaneers of Tortuga are the featured performers and entertain at events throughout California. The dirty crew of the Buccaneers of Tortuga accurately recreates the merriment and mischief by singing and dancing to sea shanties songs of long ago. They battle brawl, duel and sword fight with authentic weapons of the age; cutlasses, firing black powder flintlocks and blunderbuss. When debts are in need of payment they may hold their signature wench or cabin boy auctions to settle their differences.
